Iraq gets "sovereignty"
The U.S.-led coalition transferred sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government two days early Monday in a surprise move that apparently caught insurgents off guard, averting a feared campaign of attacks to sabotage the highly symbolic step toward self-rule.

Quick school fixes won few Iraqi hearts The US government lists renovations done on 2,356 Iraqi schools in a $70 million effort as one of its major accomplishments. The idea behind it was to meet a pressing Iraqi need and quickly win goodwill from a wide swath of the population.

TIME MAGAZINE
Al Qaeda beer-cooler bombs? A lightly classified bulletin sent to 18,000 state and local agencies last week advised local authorities to look out for plastic-foam containers, inner tubes and other waterborne flotsam commonly seen around marinas that could be rigged to blow up on contact. Also, the bulletin warned, terrorists might attach bombs to buoys.

Local report on Fahrenheit 9-11

Brad

Well, I burned a vacation day Friday and went to see the movie, taking our 13 year old son so that he could learn a few things also.

All I can say, in my partisan point of view....is WOW. A powerful movie. One that made more money this weekend in fewer screens than any other movie. One that was sold out or full in almost every area of the country, red states and blue states.

Here at the 1:45 showing at the Quarry, the theater was very nearly full. On a Friday afternoon!! And it wasn't like that was the only theater having it here. I was frankly, surprised.

There were all types of people there too....old, young, white, hispanic, black. Really a true representation of our world. At the end, a real, spontaneous blast of applause and about half of the audience gave it a standing ovation.

You should go Brad.....you always are fair in your presentations on the radio...you are becoming more disenchanted with our leader....you should see this movie. It may not make you change your mind, but it certainly ought to make you wonder why the media continues to give him a pass on just about everything he does.

I won't really go into any parts of the movie. There are parts that make you laugh out loud, parts that make you go....EUEWWWW....(Wolfowitz and his comb) parts that really and truly make you cry your eyes out....parts that make you madder than hell. It moves people in just about all ways. I didn't realize it until later how worn out I was from seeing this. But, this is a deeply patriotic movie and Moore means to save our country, not harm it, despite what the right wingers will be saying about him.

At the end, during the credits and the applause, this was one of my favorite parts...and not even a part of the movie...a woman in the audience shouted out..."Come November, you are history you piece of shit!!"
