US Border Patrol uniforms made in Mexico "What system is in place to ensure that these uniforms are not stolen en masse or sold outright in Mexico to be used by terrorists, alien smugglers or drug dealers who could cross unimpeded into the United States?" Thanks Miguel C.

...The company, VF Solutions, is allowed to subcontract the work to folks outside the U.S., that is, it doesn't have to use its own facilities. I assume VF has its own facilities, since it claims to have 60,000 employees in 22 countries. Your coerced tax dollars go to a company here with the exclusive government contract (with the built-in, guaranteed profit) and then the work, and part of the tax money, goes to Mexico.

African accused of plotting mall bombing in Ohio A Somali immigrant running a cellphone business in the Midwest has been indicted on charges of plotting with Al Qaeda operatives to blow up a shopping mall in Columbus, Ohio

The announcement seemed designed to show that federal authorities were united on anti-terrorist efforts, after earlier being criticized that some officials were not properly apprised about the warning last month that Al Qaeda was "90% ready" to strike again.

PAUL KRUGMAN
Travesty of Justice No question: John Ashcroft is the worst attorney general in history.

Brad -
It’s clear that the administration is using terrorism to win the election. Why would they trot out Ashcroft to press a relatively insignificant takedown? The evidence is sketchy: no bomb or access to materials was found, and no other details were offered, other than the plot was in its early stages. And why Ohio – why now? Surely Mr. Rove would never stoop to a little swing state fear-mongering, exploiting the “war on terra” for his boss’s gain. The arrest was made Thursday, yet they wait until Monday (after all the Reagan hoopla) to make it public – why wait? Put that together with the ever-weakening case against Jose Padilla, the wrongful arrest of Muslim lawyer Brandon Mayfield, and the phony State Dept. report discounting the number of worldwide terrorist attacks, and you get a desperate administration willing to wield all their executive powers in order to spin their failed efforts into success. It must be worse than we all think.

CBS RADIO HEAD ORDERS 'MUST CARRY' TO STATIONS FOR CLINTON BOOK SPECIAL
Credit: Matt Drudge "Bill Clinton is set to hit the talk radio waves with a live special promoting his new book -- one that CBS has ordered a "must carry" directive for all of its news affiliates, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned."

"It's going to be like one big commercial for the book! Why didn't Mr. Clinton's publisher just buy an hour," one angry executive for a CBS news station said late Monday. "This is not news, this is marketing. I already feel dirty!"

I wanted to give all of you a heads up regarding a "MUST CARRY" event coming up with former president Clinton. Mark Mason will be forwarding you the vital information, the 800#, link information, etc. very soon. There is a lot of work being done behind the scenes at the moment. The event will be 60 minutes, and a format clock is being designed to accommodate 12 minutes of commercials. Bill will be discussing his book and taking calls from listeners across America. Your listeners. At this time we are trying to get advance audio passages from the book that you will be able to run a week ahead to promote your broadcast.
Stand by for further details and thanks for the cooperation on what could be a huge event for us.
