From Washington to California, nation mourns Reagan Scores of people began gathering at the Santa Monica funeral home before dawn Monday to add to impromptu memorials placed on the lawn in front. Crowds also started arriving early at Moorpark College, where mourners were to take shuttle buses a short distance to the library later in the day.

Hearing that John Kerry is "deferring to Reagan" by shelving his campaign for a week makes me laugh. With all eyes on Reagan, who would even notice if Kerry set his hair on fire. Trying to score points on the Reagan issue is so transparent.

Iraqis pay 5 cents a gallon for gas While Americans are shelling out record prices for fuel, Iraqis pay only about 5 cents a gallon for gasoline — a benefit of hundreds of millions of dollars subsidies bankrolled by American taxpayers. Before the war, forecasters predicted that by invading Iraq, America would benefit from increased exports of oil from Iraq, which has the world's second largest petroleum reserves. That would mean cheap gas for Americans.

Despite agreement, insurgents rule Fallujah A new force called the Fallujah Brigade, led by former officers from Saddam Hussein's demobilized army, stays outside of town in tents and the civil defense force nominally occupies checkpoints on the city's fringes.

Iraqi prime minister says 9 militias will disband "..although radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's fighters did not join the agreement."

Ex-Gulf War POWs lose award against Iraq Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has expressed support for compensating Iraqi detainees who suffered abuse by American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison, (ex-POW Col.) Eberly noted, even as the government fought the former prisoners' suit. "I can't believe," Eberly said, "that the government is willing to spend U.S. tax dollars to compensate Iraqis when they are not willing to allow us to pursue this judgment against Iraqi dollars. And they have fought it with U.S. dollars."
