Usually I clean out the day's headline links between 10 and midnight and load an abbreviated page for overnight. New stuff is normally uploaded between 8 and 10 a.m. and stays all day and evening.
Sometimes I add during the day but only occasionally. Weekends don't get much updating if any at all.
Previous headline links are always available (by month) in the Headline Archive in the left column, or you can keyword search the entire site with the button

Questions growing over Bush request for $87B
President Bush's request for $87 billion for Iraq and Afghanistan drew heavy fire yesterday on Capitol Hill, where Republicans joined Democrats in questioning whether Washington should be running up its own budget deficit to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure.

Thanks, Dancing Feather

Dear Abby,
I recently read your column advising "tough love" for grandparents to give misbehaving grandchildren, whose own parents let them run wild.
I have followed your advice, and enclose a picture demonstrating my technique when my grandson just won't behave while I'm babysitting for his parents.
They have told me not to spank him, so I just take him for a ride, and he usually calms down afterward.
Sign me,
Tough Love Grandma

Last day for puppy photo. Anyone?

email
Brad: Thanks for responding to my son's e-mail about those wonderful dogs. Let us hope that someone in your wide audience will spot the photo, respond and give these unusually sweet and loving animals a home.
Because he is so anxious to find suitable placements, the Good Samaritan caring for them is offering to pay for half the cost of the shots.
We are running the adoption request in the Bulverde Community News again this week, and I will certainly update you as soon as we learn anything new.

Boston Globe editorial
Owning up to Iraq war deceptions
Americans believed the White House so much that 57 percent of Americans in a CNN/USA Today Gallup poll said the invasion of Iraq and the war on terrorism that began after Sept. 11 were the "same war."

President Bush's U.N. speech defending American action in Iraq mentioned the 9-11 attacks in the first paragraph. What a coincidence. I am baffled as to how Americans get the idea that Iraq and 9-11 are connected [speech text]

Anti-Bush protesters sue Secret Service

Gambling with the dollar?
The Bush administration has embarked on a high-stakes effort to reduce the value of the dollar in Asia, hoping to stimulate exports and jump-start the U.S. job market but risking a spike in interest rates and a slide on the stock market.

Affidavits describe Houston Police shakedowns at local cantinas
The Houston police officers accused of taking bribes from local cantinas collected around $50 a night from more than 40 local bar owners, using business cards and cell phones to expand and conduct their illegal operation, according to their arrest affidavits.

Mom says Huxley's "Brave New World" could cause teen sexual arousal
Julie Wilde and other parents want Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" and Robert Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land" taken out of classrooms. "This is pornographic literature and we do not feel it has a place in any school funded by taxpayer dollars," says the Texas mom. The books, she says, may lead to "inappropriate sexual arousal of young teens." (McAllen Monitor)
