THE DAILY WEB PAGES
In conjunction with my weekday talk show in Texas, I posted a daily web page with news stories, features, cartoons, novelties and I don't know what-all. The peak of that internet effort ran from late 2002 thru 2006. My hit count worked up past 3-million a month.
Then my radio station decided its own website was looking pretty sickly compared to the individual websites of some of the talk hosts, and we were told we could no longer mention our own sites on the air. That disappointed me because the hosts' sites actually supported the station, and we put a lot of time and work and imagination into them, and instead of saying thank you our management made it plain that our efforts weren't appreciated. At which time my enthusiasm tanked and I expended less and less effort.
During its heyday my hit count hit 23-million a year. I never made a penny off the site. Wouldn't sell ads.
Each calendar date that is underlined links to that day's individual home page. It's a trippy little trip through history. It is disappointing that a whole lot of the links to news stories have gone inactive. Hardy anyone keeps everything online forever. So it goes.
